Mr. Sacharski is in his 23rd year of living and working in China. In 1999, he founded Pacific Enterprise Capital and serves as president, CEO, company board of managers member and investment committee member. Mr. Sacharski works in the company’s Beijing office where he leads deal flow development, due diligence matters and post-funding portfolio company management.
From 1995 to 1998 Mr. Sacharski was chief representative of GTE China. He directed GTE’s business development strategy including the establishment of an $82 million Sino – GTE wireless communications company. He served on the company’s board of directors as well as provided operational trouble-shooting solutions when needed. Mr. Sacharski led GTE initiatives in conversion of cable TV networks to two-way interactive platforms and designing the first certification authority center to support the introduction of credit cards to China. In 1998, Mr. Sacharski negotiated the first-ever agreement between a foreign Internet service provider and a major China government office, the State Information Bureau, for the worldwide distribution of Chinese news and business content via GTE’s access network to the Internet.
From 1991 to 1994, Mr. Sacharski was the first Asia-Pacific director of ComStream Corporation, a leading provider of digital satellite communication networks. Mr. Sacharski closed major sales with China’s Ministry of Radio, Film and TV, the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the China Commodities Exchange as well as several other Chinese customers. He and his staff provided post-sales support that provided valuable insight into the way Chinese companies conduct business. Mr. Sacharski guided ComStream’s development in China from an unknown company to achieving competitive advantage and capturing major market share.
Mr. Sacharski started his China career in 1983 as President of Multicom, Inc., a China market entry service to U.S. companies. He advised companies in automotive, building materials, food processing and telecommunications. During this period Mr. Sacharski spent considerable time inside Chinese enterprises observing and learning “factory floor” level operations.
Mr. Sacharski is a founding board member of the United States Information Technology Office (Beijing), an alliance of American high-tech industry associations whose members are doing business in China. He has provided China perspective to U.S. government officials including industry-opening recommendations to the U. S Trade Representative team that negotiated the World Trade Organization (WTO) agreement with China. Mr. Sacharski is a frequent public speaker on doing business in China including appearances on China national television. In 2006, he was a guest lecturer at Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business where he taught an MBA-level course, “Managing for Success in Tomorrow’s China Market”. Mr. Sacharski holds a B.A. in international relations and an M.A. in international and comparative education from Michigan State University.
